The National Arts Education Archive

Marion Richardson

This collection contains two decorated cupboards and screens painted by her pupils at Dudley Girls High School between 1917 and 1930. She was influenced by Roger Fry and became known as an innovative teacher in the contaxt of the New Teaching movement. She was a pioneer art teacher, lecturer and inspector and, although there is little of her work in this collection, there are many written and photographic references of her work in the Alexander Barclay-Russell Collection and the ILEA collection, including one of her folders of "bad art".
